Welcome
Curently Accepting New Clients.
Congratulations, you have taken your first step. If this is your first
time reaching out to a therapist, I applaud you. I know it takes
strength to do this. If you have seen therapists before, but haven't
acheived the results you would like, I know it can be difficult to think
about trying again. I'm glad you are. While my specialty is
Relationship and Couple Therapy, I work with individuals and families as
well. As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your
true potential as an individual, a couple and family. By applying
complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will work together to
unearth long-standing behavior patterns, and feelings and beliefs, that may
be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
But, it's not all psycho-mumbo-jumbo! As
a specialist in gender differences, brain physiology and the mind brain
connection, I will sneek in some education on how our brains work so you
will be able to more clearly understand what is happening within you and
around you. I will help you learn how to change longstanding beliefs
and behavior patterns and to understand how hormones, brain chemistry, and
your environment have intersected to create your unique self (and those
around you). There also may be homework! All therapies are tailored to the
needs and personality of the client. My primary therapies include
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
EFT is based on "attachment theory" and is the first coherent and validated theory of adult love. It assesses the strength of the bond between partners
by understanding the cycle and patterns of distress. It looks within at how
partners relate emotionally, and between at how they engage each other. You
and your partner will learn how to expand your emotional responses and
create new kinds of interactions leading to more secure bonding. CBT
is based on the fact that thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors and not
the person or situation which led to that thought. It is by learning
to think differently that beliefs and behaviors can and
will change. My therapeutic 'style' is 'Rogerian'. Each of my
clients will be accepted with unconditional positive regard and never, ever
judged. Please call me for a free, informal chat. You may also call or email
me for an appointment. Just scroll down to find out how!
